About VDC

What is the VDC?

The VDC (Virtual Data Center) is an open-source, digital library to enable the sharing of quantitative research data while supporting the distributed virtual collections of data and documentation.

Who is behind it?

The VDC was initiated at the Harvard-MIT Data Center and is supported by funding from NSF's Digital Libraries Initiative. More information is available in the VDC web site for those who are interested in learning more. While the project was initiated at Harvard, other social science libraries are actively encouraged to download the VDC and use it for their own purposes. The VDC code and license information is available for download from SourceForge.net. After installing, libraries are encouraged to customize the VDC to suit their organization's needs.
